Mitsubishi presents the new 4J10 MIVEC engine in ASX, Lancer

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has announced a new engine. The J10 '4 'is a lightweight and compact 1.8-liter gasoline engine with built new version of the company's MIVEC variable valve timing and the latest version of Auto Stop & Go (AS & G) tech.

The new engine 4J10 / AS & G combination will power the Japan-market RVR (ASX us), Galant Fortis sedan (Lancer) and Galant Fortis Sportback (Lancer Sportback). MMC said that with the 4J10, the three models, 12% improved fuel efficiency show in the Japanese 10-15 mode.

MMC said that the new MIVEC system together to provide an improved combustion stability and reduced piston friction better economy, without any loss of engine power over the existing 4B10 MIVEC engine. Used overseas Lancers and the Proton Inspira 1.8, a 1.8-liter 4B10 that, inline-four, 16-valve engine. It has DOHC instead of SOHC new engine. Compared with the 4B10, the new 4J10 only 1 kW and 5 Nm is less, so it is a good deal for the 12% better economy.

MMC applied first MIVEC in 1992, and there are two types so far - in one period, the system switches between different valve lift and valve opening to the engine speed, while in the other (as in the 4B10) of the system, the valve opening time varies on a continuous basis .

The new MIVEC system can do in the 4J10, which could do the two previous systems, "but at the same time, all the time." This is thanks to a single mechanism that mechanically couples intake valve lift, opening duration and timing, so that all three parameters were varied simultaneously and continuously. The result is an ideal valve function and the reduction in pumping losses.

AS & G is nothing new for MMC - it is already used in manual cars for Europe - but this latest version has been specially designed for cars with continuously variable transmissions (CVTs). The addition of a new control device means that the new AS & G managed integrally with the engine, CVT, Active Stability Control (ASC) and climate.

Other changes include the use of a durable 12-volt battery and a DC / DC converters. These are breaks in audio sound avoid the Navi and a restart when the engine to prevent restarts.

These developments are part of Mitsubishi Motors Environment Initiative Program 2015, the 25% reduction on the road CO2 emissions of new targets compared to the year 2005 global weighted average.
