Perodua Myvi 1.5 - More power, more value

In reviewing the new Myvi 1.3 at the beginning of this year, it was thought that crossed my mind when I saw the price was that Perodua started cocky with their success. Although things started well with RM43, 900 for the entry model, it was a bit outrageous at the other end of the spectrum.

Perodua offer prices from RM54, 400 (M / T) and are RM57, 400 (A / T) for the Elegance models are not the kind of money I would pay for a Myvi. When the news was confirmed by a 1.5-liter model, I had great confidence that Perodua is the magic RM60k brand new version of the cross. Well, the Myvi 1.5 here now, and it has RM60k against the barrier, but the pleasant surprise is that it is not to the extent that was predicted to happen.

Your invoice will be provided with an identification number, beginning with the number '6 'only if the top row Myvi Extreme 1.5 Automatic, which goes for RM61, 700 pick in metallic paint. Manual costs just RM3, 000 less, but the smart money is going modestly-specced SE model instead of what you can for between RM50, 900 and RM54, 400 depending on grade and color transmission.

Order acceptance for the Myvi 1.5 started earlier this week, Perodua expects the new variant accounts for 45% of the total Myvi sales. The demand for the Myvi 1.3 has overwhelmingly good, and Perodua expects a significant number of buyers who still maintain their cars, their bookings to the 1.5 upgrade. Since inception Perodua has collected 34 000 bookings for the 1.3, but has only 18,000 units from the 8th September. No sales figures are for the 1.5 was released at once.

If you are under the 1.3 owners who are updating your order for the 1.5, there is in fact very good reasons to do so. Under the 1.5 's hood is Toyota 1495 cc 3SZ-VE engine, which is also used in the Alza. Perodua Myvi has voted for the engine rpm to 102 hp at 6,000 revolutions per minute and 136Nm@4.400 deliver. If that does not sound impressive, consider that his actions under a ton curb weight - Perodua quoted a century sprint of 9.98 seconds for the manual SE model.

Both the SE and Extreme versions come with bumpers and body kits revised to differ from the 1.3 models. Continue to be aluminum rims 14 "items as per the 1.3, but on a new 7-spoke design with gray. Perodua, the SE provides five color options and three extremes. Both versions are yellow with Majestic, Ivory White and Ebony Black , with Mystical purple and silver shiny new choices for the SE.

Inside, the dashboard of the same architecture is used by the 1.3, but now done in some black clay. Driver and front passenger get semi-bucket seats and leather upholstery is standard offering for the Extreme model. Steering mounted audio controls are a welcome addition for both, and in the extreme, a touchscreen multimedia device with GPS navigation is included. The system is also offered in SE with automatic transmission units than RM2, 100 low-cost option. In terms of safety, both models get two airbags, ABS, EBD, three-point seat belt for all passengers, seat belt pretensioners and Isofix child seat fixings as standard mounts.

A few days back, the Malaysian media had an opportunity, the Myvi 1.5 on the streets of Cyberjaya try on a test track stretching over 8 km long. The test car wore all trade plates, and the two that I managed to try was hardly in the running - with only 500 miles on the odometer. Although the engines were still solid, it quickly became clear that the new boys have more speed available, compared to the 1.3.

Shifting of the manual version is clearly on 1.3 's. improved compared it feels less rubbery and a bit more accurate, but the clutch bites was quite high and hit me unexpectedly during a hill start assist. As per our views on the 1.3, is our proposal with the 1.5 that you opt for the convenience of the automatic transmission. If you're one of those rare breeds who still prefer to have the pleasure, manual transmission, offer alternatives of proton slicker gear changes and more satisfying.

The larger and heavier engine mean that it is not only an increase in overall mass of the vehicle, but also new weight distribution compared to the 1.3. Based on this and the engine produces more power is taken into account, of course, Perodua has the 1.5 's spring and damper rates to harder settings revised. This change was immediately apparent, as was firmer ride quality than what I remembered of 1.3, although this also be the result of over-inflated tires.

With this new 1.5-liter version Perodua has finally answered the public demand for a stronger version of the Myvi. The aggressively styled Extreme version, the boy racer appeal, but for our money, is the SE model has a much more reasonable purchase price because only RM4, 000 via the premium-1.3. In fact, the SE certainly makes more sense than the eye, the water in the expensive Elegance 1.3. If you placed a reservation on the 1.3, but still pick up your car, you may want your Perodua dealer a call.
