Bangladesh is the latest country to get the Nano, after Sri Lanka and Nepal. Nitol Motors was chosen as Tata Motors the exclusive importer of the Nano. Abdul Matlab General Motors said the priuce Nitol the Nano was high due to tax 132 percent on imports of cars. He added that the price could drop once sales volumes to encourage Tata Motors to assemble the Nano in Bangladesh itself.

Tata Motors expects to sell about 3,000 Nanos in Bangladesh. Mr. Matlab expressed confidence that the Nanoo will be a huge success in the country as it has a fuel efficiency of 25kmpl. Bangladesh has also experienced a sharp increase in gasoline and diesel prices which led to increased demand fuel small car.

The Tata Nano has not been able to live to its expectations in terms of sales in India. Tata Motors has already started the construction of other cars at its plant in Sanand which was initially started to build the Nano only. Tata Motors is now looking to international markets to boost sales of the Nano.

The Nano has faced several security issues and production issues. The fact that this is not the car Rs.1 lakh made people avoid him. Furthermore the marketing of the Nano has not created an ambitious image for the car. This resulted in the Nano was not able to meet initial expectations.

It remains to be seen how the Indian small car will behave in Bangladesh, a country not too far from Singur, where the Nano was originally planned to build.
